Question: What are some highly prestigious schools that are a notch easier to get into than the Ivies, MIT, and Stanford?

I'm not interested in liberal arts colleges. All I can think of are Berkeley and NYU... Ahh, can't believe I overlooked Duke and Chicago. Yes, true. I'd say Duke and Chicago are about as difficult to get into as the bottom half of the Ivies or so. They're both more selective than Cornell and on par with some other ones.

Question: Which Illinois school should I attend for business?

I just got accepted to Northern Illinois University and University of Illinois in Chicago for Accounting. I'm struggling greatly on which school to go to. I think NIU has a better Accounting program, but UIC is just so much closer to home and friends, plus their business program isn't bad. I would really appreciate ANY help towards my decision. Thank you in advanced!

I used to work at the Big Five accounting firm Arthur Andersen in downtown Chicago, and when I worked there, the firm never hired anyone from UIC. The schools that they recruited from were the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Northern Illinois University, Notre Dame, and the University of Michigan. If I were you, I would go to NIU. It may be located in a rural area further away from the City than you would like, but you'll have more career options once you graduate. For some reason, NIU was able to lure some really talented ex University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign PHD students into their school to teach, and their accounting program really took off. Besides U of I, it's easily the second best accounting program in the state.

Another attractive feature for students going from abroad for higher studies in Australia is the protection of their interests provided by the government through Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act. If your application for study is successful, you will be sent a letter offering you place at the University and detailing the first fee payment due. When you return your acceptance of the offer and make that first payment to the University, an electronic Confirmation of Enrollment (eCEO) is sent to the Australian diplomatic mission (embassy, consulate etc) you have nominated in your application form. A paper copy of this electronic Confirmation of Enrollment is sent to you. You then submit your copy of the eCEO to the nominated diplomatic mission when you apply for a student visa.
