Are you joking... of course! There are over 800 schools in the country that offer philosophy as a major. There are now two sets of rankings of philosophy departments in the United States: Brian Leiter’s Philosophical Gourmet (PG) and Academic Analytics’ Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index (FSPI). Only two universities are listed in both rankings: Princeton and Rutgers. The rest are entirely different. FSPI ranks Michigan State first; PG ranks NYU first. Academic Analytics’ Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index 1. Michigan State University 2. CUNY Graduate School 2. Princeton University 4. University of Virginia 5. Rutgers 6. University of California – San Diego 7. Pennsylvania State University 8. The University of Texas at Austin 9. SUNY at Stony Brook 10. Rice University Brian Leiter’s Philosophical Gourmet ranking 1. Question: Whats the difference between universities and techs?

I need to know the difference between regular universities and techs. So if i wanted to take up electrical engineering i would choose texas tech over texas university(if i had a choice of course)

Texas Tech IS a university. There is no Texas University, but there is a University of Texas. There is functionally no difference at all between the two. You can major in English and Philosophy at Texas Tech and you can major in EE at the University of Texas. Don't look at the names. Look at the programs themselves. If you went by the name, you would pick Texas Tech for EE. However, UT-Austin's EE program is ranked a LOT higher. UT's EE program is ranked 10th. TTU's EE program is 73rd. (Texas A&M is 21st.) 10 Princeton University Purdue University - West Lafayette University of Texas - Austin 21 Pennsylvania State University- University Park Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Texas A & M University - College Station 73 Stevens Institute of Technology Texas Tech Univ http://worldranking.blogspot.com/2009/04/us-top-electrical-engineering-ranking.html
