Question: What are good Universities in California?
I'm not sure what I want to go into. I was thinking somewhere in architecture or environmental design before but now I've changed my mind. I'm kind of open to stuff like real estate. Don't want to go into Sciences i think. I'm from Vancouver, Canada, and want to go to a school in California. I don't know how hard it is to get in and how expensive some schools are. I want to go to a school that's big and nice and has nice weather!

Question: What is a good university for graduate study in international affairs or relations?
I am about to receive my undergraduate degrees in international business administration (with a focus on economics) and Spanish. I think that I would like to go to graduate school to study international affairs/relations, but that's about all I'm sure of. I'm especially interested in Latin America. I wouldn't be against studying outside of the U.S. or taking some of my courses in Spanish. Thanks!

I think studying international relations with an emphasis on Latin America studies is a very wise move, especially if you are already fluent in Spanish. I know Pepperdine University offers an International MBA program where you study on the campus in Malibu your first year and then at one of their partner schools worldwide. My boyfriend's oldest brother went there and had an amazing time and has done very well since graduating. I would imagine Georgetown, Penn, USC, Harvard, Princeton, Indiana University, Columbia, American University and the University of Miami would also offer this program. The Thunderbird School of Global Management is one of the top in the world. I believe they also offer international relations degrees. Question: What are some California colleges by the beach that aren't pretentious?
I want to go to a university in CA that is near the beach, but I'm not sure if I would go to UCSB because I hear that the people in Santa Barbara are pretty pretentious. I would rather not spend 4 years with people that are stuck up. (Excuse me if this stereotype is wrong, but I hear it too often.) I would go to UC Santa Cruz but I hear that it's more in the forest and there are 10 different "campuses" which sounds pretty inconvenient.

Interesting that many of the schools listed by the others are nowhere near the beach! If you need to be within a mile or two of the beach, the only ones I can think of would be UCSD and two CSUs - Channel Islands and Monterey Bay. You could do better if 10 miles from the beach or so was your criterion. Then you could include UCLA and UCI, along with a number of CSU campuses, including San Diego State, Cal State Long Beach, Dominguez Hills, and Humboldt State. There are a few private universities that are might qualify (University of San Diego, Loyola Marymount University, Pepperdine University, University of San Francisco, Mt. St. Mary's College, etc.), but by virtue of the fact that they are private, they have a bit of a pretentious reputation. You should know, though, that no school with thousands of students has only one kind of student. I've taught at some of these schools, and while I recognize the spoiled, pretentious nature of some students, I have to say that you can find plenty of people at each campus who do not fit that stereotype.

Question: What classes would you suggest to take to become a Dentist in High School?
I want to be a dentist when I grow up and I was just wondering what classes would be most recommended to take in order to achieve that. As in what should I major in? I understand that most people would advise me to major in Biology, but I feel as though that may be too hard? Or that there is another class that may be better to take. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
