Question: What are the cheapest HBCU's for out of state students?

I really want to go to a historically black college, but the prices for out of state students are outrageous. I also don't want to be in a southern state. What are my choices?

HBCUs that are not in the south: Wilberforce U, Lincoln U (PA), Cheyney U of Pennsylvania, and Central State U. I don't know the costs of those. You'll need to look them up. I know you want to go to an HBCU, but another idea might be to go to a school that isn't historically Black, but which is extremely diverse. You may then be able to have a choice of more northern schools, and may be able to find some cheaper schools - or at least some that offer strong financial aid. Some examples of schools that are very diverse include: Rutgers Newark, Polytechnic Institute of NYU, CUNY City College, CUNY Baruch College, CUNY Hunter College, St. Peter's College (NJ), CUNY Brooklyn College, CUNY York College, CUNY NYC College of Technology, Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Engineering (NY), New Jersey Institute of Tech, U Bridgeport (CT), U Illinois Chicago, Rutgers New Brunswick, UMass Boston, SUNY Old Westbury, Pine Manor College (MA), Bloomfield College (NJ), CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice, New Jersey City U, Mercy College (NY), College of Mt. Saint Vincent (NY), CUNY Queens College, Kean U (NJ). Of course, those schools aren't majority Black, and they aren't HBCUs, with the history and culture those have to offer. But perhaps some of them might be of interest to you, and it could expand your choices. BTW, Mercy College has a committment to helping you be able to afford their school. So don't go by the price tag on that one. They offer decent financial aid.

Question: What colleges offer a degree in archaeology?

Looking for a college that offers a degree in archaeology somewhere in the northeast...I hope. Any colleges would be helpfull. For anyone else who answeres: I may be young, but am not a woman...I think my paramedic education covered the difference... My grades were average and my ACT scors were...not so good. I will be relying heavily on my charming personality, essay writing abilities and my credentials as a paramedic at the age of 20.

Bard College (NY) Boston University (MA) Bowdoin College (ME) Bridgewater State College (MA) Brown University (RI) Bryn Mawr College (PA) CUNY: Hunter College (NY) Cornell University (NY) Columbia University (NY) Dickinson College (PA) Hamilton College (NY) Harvard University (MA) Haverford College (PA) Lycoming College (PA) SUNY Potsdam (NY) Tufts University (MA) Wellesley College (MA) Wesleyan University (CT) Yale University (CT) If you are a young woman with outstanding SAT scores, and an interest in a single-sex school, I'd strongly suggest Bryn Mawr. If you have outstanding SAT scores, and are not interested in a single-sex school, I'd suggest you take close looks at Bowdoin, Brown, Columbia, Harvard, Haverford, and Yale. If you don't test well, or if your grades are but average, the schools on this list that are less selective are Bridgewater State, Lycoming, and SUNY Potsdam.

Question: What is a good college for me to apply for?

I live in New York and I was wondering, what is a good school to apply for if I want to get into a career for teaching. I want to be a teacher at a school. Maybe a middle school or a high school and for social studies. So what is a good college for me to apply for teaching. Thanks.

If you live in New York City, apply to a campus of CUNY. Hunter College and City College are best. If you live in New York State, apply to any campus of SUNY. The best instruction for your proposed career will be found at your local public university. These universities all have fine teaching programs as educating future teachers is one of their purposes. There is no need to pay for a private college.

Question: I need your help to tell me a good US university for international students?

I am looking to do my bachelor degree in the US and looking for a US university where there are a lot of international students. Any university(s) in mind?

Just because a university in the US has a lot of international students, that does not mean that it's a strong university, or the best fit for you. You also have to think about your major, and the reputation of the university. In general, though, the US universities with the largest populations of international students are: - The New School, in NY - Florida Institute of Technology - University of Bridgeport, in CT - University of Houston But consider that most reputable US universities have fairly sizeable international student populations on campus. So it may, in fact, be better to first look at which universities are right for you, and are strong in your major; and then to look at how many international students are on campus. For example, if you wanted to come here to study engineering, I know that a lot of international students may be at U Bridgeport, but I certainly wouldn't put that school on my list of recommendations to you. And know that if you are to focus on universities in the larger, appealing US cities (NYC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, etc.), and to look at the more popular universities there (for example, in Boston: MIT, Harvard, Boston University, Northeastern) you will find sizable international populations on campus. Note also that you may want to look at universities which are known to have extremely diverse student populations. These aren't necessarily all international students, but still, it may help to make the campus comfortable for you. So you could look at: - Wesleyan College - Temple U - U Maryland College Park - SUNY Stony Brook - DePaul U - U of San Francisco - New Jersey Institute of Tech - George Mason U - U of Miami - CUNY Hunter College - Stanford - Manhattanville College
