Keep in mind that you have to go to college before you go to medical school! Some of the colleges in Hawaii are the University of Hawaii, Hawaii Pacific University, and Brigham Young University - Hawaii. The only medical school, as far as I know, is the University of Hawaii at Manoa. If you really want to go to medical school, you may have to consider leaving Hawaii for a few years, because medical school is extremely difficult to get into, and you cannot guarantee getting into your first choice.

Sure, most of the students at the schools on this list were still running around in diapers when Ronald Reagan was in office, but their values and politics make them modern-day poster children for right-wing conservatism. According to The Princeton Review's annual survey of 115,000 college students at the Best 361 Colleges across the nation, these campuses are brimming with students whose leanings are most definitely rightward bound. 1. Hillsdale College (Hillsdale, Michigan) Everyone at Hillsdale agrees that an atmosphere of "strong conservatism" characterizes living and learning on campus. "Vigorously independent," the college is one of the few in the nation that does not accept federal aid. The school's support of "limited government," its role as "a defender of free markets and conservative values," and its emphasis on learning from "original texts" is appreciated by its largely "conservative, white, [and] Christian" students, the type to "cheer during President Bush's speeches." Students who considered Hillsdale also looked at University of Michigan, Indiana Wesleyan University, Michigan State University, and West Michigan University. 2. Grove City College (Grove City, Pennsylvania) At GCC, "people are very focused on God. Many are involved in campus ministry groups, and almost everyone attends church on Sundays." Not surprising considering the school's mission "to provide a thorough education in a Christian environment." GCC's traditional values extend beyond the classroom: Students feel "pressure to find a mate by senior year, so the opposite sex is often on one's mind." Liberal students on campus "face much opposition to their political views, but don't suffer discrimination." Students who considered GCC also looked at Penn State-University Park, Wheaton College (IL), Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and Thiel College. 3. Brigham Young University (UT) (Provo, Utah) Religion "defines" BYU, and that is "why it is such a great school." BYU's honor code sets the tone; it "prohibits drinking, drugs, cheating, and dishonest actions." The vast majority of BYU undergrads are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and this results in a high comfort level for the majority. Regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds, students at BYU are "unified" by their "very high religious standards and come to BYU for that reason." Many also aspire "to meet people with their same standards, and get married." Students who considered BYU also looked at Brigham Young University-Idaho, Brigham Young University-Hawaii, and University of Utah. 4. Hampden-Sydney College (Hampden-Sydney, Virginia) "Hampden-Sydney is not for everybody," students at this traditional all-male college advise. Students here "do not accept anything other than 100 percent manners, 100 percent class, 100 percent preppy, and 100 percent conservative all the time." At Hampden-Sydney, "old traditions and strong Southern values" are a major source of the school's esprit de corps. As one student sums up: "We say grace, and we say 'ma'am,' and if you ain't into that, we don't give a damn." Students who considered Hampden-Sydney also looked at Sewanee-University of the South, University of Mississippi, Randolph-Macon College, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 5. College of the Ozarks (Point Lookout, Missouri) Your average College of the Ozarks undergrad is "someone who is a strong Christian" and "certainly more conservative" than many college students nationwide. A heavy emphasis on Christian values--both inside and outside the classroom--makes this an ideal spot "for students who wish to earn their degree while growing closer to God." While other students on campus "may not be conservative," they are nonetheless "welcomed here more than [at some] other places." Students who considered C of O also looked at Missouri State University, Southwest Baptist University, Drury University, and Berea College. 6. United States Naval Academy (Annapolis, Maryland) The U.S. Naval Academy forges graduates who are "strong morally, mentally, and physically." The academy's atmosphere of "nonstop competition" instills "discipline, time management, and dedication," as well as "great moral and ethical values." While there is "an undercurrent of liberal thought and challenging of accepted norms" on campus, "the conservative mainstream remains just that, and always will." Students who considered USNA also looked at Duke University, Harvard College, the United States Air Force Academy, and the United States Military Academy. 7. Wheaton College (IL) (Wheaton, Illinois) Wheaton aims to integrate the "Christian faith into all areas of academia with the purpose of making Christian workers who will infiltrate every part of the world and affect it for Christ and his kingdom." While some people don't mind differing views, "other people can be very stuck in their box thinking that every Christian must be a conservative Republican." This can lead to a campus environment "full of Christians that get along great with each other, but have a hard time knowing how to treat anyone that isn't exactly like them." Students who considered Wheaton also looked at Bethel University (MN), Calvin College, College of William and Mary, and Messiah College. 8. University of Dallas (Dallas, Texas) Many UD students bring a conservative Catholic perspective to their studies, but "a lot of non-Catholics still enjoy this school a great deal." Some are quite religious, others less so; one student writes, "A very small group of students are sometimes so engaged in their religion they wear it like a shiny badge of righteousness." Fortunately, lots of the students at UD "are accepting and not so ignorant as to discriminate against others who do not share their personal beliefs." 9. Texas A&M University-College Station (College Station, Texas) The typical student at Texas A&M is a "native Texan, Caucasian, heterosexual, from a middle-class family, and pretty conservative." Described by one student as having "the 'George W. Bush is God' mentality," to say the students on this campus "lean to the right" is a "drastic understatement." While an "outspoken person hoping to attend war protests or march for animal rights may want to take a second look at the school down in Austin," most liberals "will find that their views are respected as long as they show respect." 10. United States Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point, New York) The stereotypical USMMA student "is a conservative white male, often--but not always--from a military background." All students "share a common love for the United States and a desire to serve it admirably." Beyond love for their country, what ties students together is their shared indoctrination experience. As one student puts it, "Shared pain makes most people fit in just fine." by http://www.dhaarvi.blogspot.com
